GEORGE JAMES HENRY GEROW
October 12, 1937 - February 26, 2010 Peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Friday, February 26, 2010, George passed away at the age of 72 years. Remaining to forever cherish George's memory are his loving wife Geraldine of 50 years marriage; son Henry (Patricia); daughter Lisa (Luc); grandchildren Matthew, Alexandra, Ashley and Aidan, who he was very proud of. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Ethel Gerow and sister Norma Bonneau. Born in Chatham, Ontario, George moved in early childhood to Windsor where he eventually married his childhood sweetheart in 1959. During the 50s he worked on the production line for Chrysler and his professional achievements included a mechanic's license, a propane ticket, and a welding ticket in which developed his extensive knowledge in motor vehicles. George was transferred to Winnipeg in 1973 where he became District Service Manager for Chrysler Canada until his retirement in 1992. In 1996, he received a second lease on life with a heart transplant. Everything George did he did passionately, be it stock cars, fishing, hunting, competitive shooting, genealogy or the dreams of his children. He was an active member of the Manitoba Heart Transplant Group, the Winnipeg Trap and Skeet Club and Aquarium Society of Winnipeg where he made many life-long friends. George's Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue, with Rev. Ian Mills presiding. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Albak and the staff at the Prime Program in Deer Lodge Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory can be made to the Prime Program at Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3J 0L3 or a charity of choice.
